Norwood consists of about 30,000 year-round residents and is home to the Norwood Automile. Its residents describe the town as a quiet rural community, a relaxing place to retire, or even raise a family. Norwood is a highly desirable, yet still affordable community to call home. U.S. 1 is a major artery through Norwood with quick access to Interstate 95 and Hwy 128. However, if commuting via public transit is important to you, the Franklin Line runs from Forge Park-495 to South Boston. The MBTA also provides bus service.

Norwood's five elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school are operated by the Norwood Public School district. Inform yourself of bus transportation information before assuming transportation is free or available.

Norwood has not seen the same good news its neighbor, Dedham, has. Sales in Norwood continue their slide both in volume and value. Norwood needs to hope that it hit bottom in 2012 and that 2013 will promise much better news.

Condominium sales, rose in number in 2012 over both 2011 and 2010, and although its average sale price was higher than 2011, it still fell way short of the heady highs of 2010. Let's hope that condo sales hit bottom in 2011 and are now on their way up again.

The graphic, historical view of home sales shown below is not really accurate as it goes only through the 2Qtr of 2012; but it gives you a general picture of how things have been selling over the past 5 years.
